Heliophanus aeneus is a species of jumping spider belonging to the genus Heliophanus. It was first formally described by Carl Wilhelm Hahn in 1832, under the original name Salticus aeneus. This spider occurs throughout the Palearctic realm. It is widely distributed across Europe, Turkey, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. It has been recorded in many European countries, and its range extends eastward into the broader Palearctic region. Heliophanus aeneus is most commonly found in gardens, on hedges, and among low-growing bushes. It prefers vegetated areas that allow it to hunt for prey.
