About Heliopetes macaira (Reakirt, 1866)

Heliopetes macaira, commonly known as the Turk's-cap white-skipper, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Hesperiidae. Its distribution ranges from southern Texas in North America, southward through Central America, all the way to Paraguay. The wingspan of this butterfly measures 32 to 35 millimeters. In southern Texas, there are multiple generations per year, and adult butterflies can be seen in flight from April to November. The larvae of this species feed on Malvaviscus drummondii, while adult butterflies feed on flower nectar.
