About Heliconius ethilla (Latreille & Godart, 1819)
Heliconius ethilla, commonly known as the ethilia longwing, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. It was described by Jean-Baptiste Godart in 1819. This species ranges from Panama to southern Brazil, and it inhabits marginal forest habitats. Its wingspan measures between 60 and 70 millimeters. The forewings are orange with a black margin and four black spots, while the hindwings are orange with two black stripes. The larvae feed on Passiflora species. Fully grown larvae have a white body and an orange head, and reach a length of approximately 17 millimeters.
