Nomenclature and Taxonomy

Helicia ferruginea, commonly known as hairy honeysuckle or rusty oak, is a species of rainforest tree in the flowering plant family Proteaceae, native to eastern Australia.

Distribution

This species is endemic to rainforests located in southeastern Queensland and northeastern New South Wales.

Conservation Status

As of December 2013, the Queensland government officially lists the current conservation status of Helicia ferruginea as "vulnerable".

Size

Documented specimens of the species have been recorded growing to approximately 10 meters (33 feet) in height.
