About Helianthus salicifolius A.Dietr.

Helianthus salicifolius A.Dietr., commonly known as willow-leaved sunflower, grows in limestone prairies. It is a perennial herbaceous plant that can reach up to 2.5 m (8.2 ft) in height, and it spreads via underground rhizomes. Its leaves are long but extremely narrow, reaching up to 21 cm (8.3 in) in length, but rarely exceeding 1.2 cm (half an inch) in width. A single plant typically produces 6 to 15 flower heads. Each flower head holds 10 to 20 yellow ray florets, which surround 50 or more red disc florets.
