About Helenium pinnatifidum (Nutt.) Rydb.
Helenium pinnatifidum (Nutt.) Rydb. is a North American perennial plant in the sunflower family, commonly called southeastern sneezeweed or savanna sneezeweed. It occurs in the southeastern United States, specifically in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas. This perennial herb grows up to 80 cm (31.5 in) tall, and has small thin wings running down the sides of its stems. Its leaves are pinnatifid, which means they are deeply divided into many small segments. A single plant typically produces only 1 to 3 hemispherical flower heads, each around 2 cm (1 in) across. Each flower head can contain 800 or more very small disc flowers, measuring 4.0–5.5 mm (0.16–0.22 in) across; each disc flower is yellow near its base and yellow-brown toward the tip. The flower head also has 13 to 34 yellow ray flowers, each with three distinct lobes at the tip.
