About Hastingsia serpentinicola Becking

Hastingsia serpentinicola Becking is a perennial herb that grows from a black bulb measuring 2 to 4 centimeters long. It produces an erect flower stem that reaches up to 50 centimeters in height. A cluster of long, bending leaves surrounds the stem at its base, while the remainder of the stem is leafless. The upper section of the stem holds a narrow, pointed inflorescence made up of many small, lily-like flowers that are white or greenish in color. Each flower has six curled perianth parts and six protruding stamens with very large anthers. After the flowers fall off, they leave behind developing fruits. These fruits are capsules a few millimeters wide that contain black seeds.
