About Harperella nodosa (Rose) Rose

Harperella is a monotypic genus of flowering plants that belongs to the family Apiaceae. The only species in this genus is Harperella nodosa, which has the scientific synonym Ptilimnium nodosum. This species is commonly known by two common names: piedmont mock bishopweed and harperella. It is native to riparian habitats in the Southeastern United States, and has been documented at sites in West Virginia, Maryland, multiple Southeastern states including Alabama and North Carolina, and the Ouachita National Forest spanning Arkansas and Oklahoma. Under the synonym Ptilimnium nodosum, this species was added to the United States Endangered Species List in 1988.
