About Harpalus affinis (Schrank, 1781)
Harpalus affinis (Schrank, 1781) measures between 8.5 and 12 millimetres (0.33–0.47 inches) in length. The species is overall black, with colourful metallic reflections on its shin. Its dorsal surface has a metallic bronze, green, or blue colouration.
This species is native to the Palearctic realm, ranging from Europe to Siberia. It has been introduced to North America, where it currently occurs in multiple Canadian provinces spanning from British Columbia to the Maritimes. It also became established in New Zealand during the mid to late 1970s.
