About Halimium lasianthum subsp. lasianthum

This subspecies of plant was previously described under the scientific name Cistus lasianthus. It is commonly known as the Lisbon false sun-rose or woolly rock rose, and is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Cistaceae. Its native range covers the Iberian Peninsula (including Portugal, western Spain), southwestern France, and Northwest Africa (specifically Morocco). It forms a spreading evergreen shrub that reaches 1 meter (3 feet) tall and 1.5 meters (5 feet) wide. It bears grey-green leaves and bright yellow flowers that bloom in spring. Each petal of the flower may have a maroon blotch at its base. When cultivated, this plant requires sandy soil and full sun.
