About Halesia diptera J.Ellis ex L.

Halesia diptera J.Ellis ex L. is a large shrub or small tree that grows to between 4 and 8 meters tall. It has deciduous leaves that measure 6 to 12 centimeters long and 4 to 7 centimeters broad. Its white flowers are 2 to 2.5 centimeters long, and grow in clusters of 3 to 6 flowers. The species produces a dry, non-fleshy drupe fruit that has two wings along its sides; this two-winged fruit distinguishes Halesia diptera from other Halesia species, which have four-winged fruit. Wildlife such as squirrels eat the species' unripe, sour, green fruit.
