About Hadena sancta Staudinger, 1859

Scientific name: Hadena sancta Staudinger, 1859 Warren describes Hadena sancta as darker and greyer than Hadena perplexa (referred to here as E. nisus Germ. (21 a)). Similar to irregularis, it has a buff-grey brown color and lacks a pale ochreous tinge. Its submarginal line is dentate, and is preceded by long, dentate black marks. The claviform stigma is small, definite, and brown. The hindwing is fuscous. The type form, which comes only from Sicily, has stigmata filled in with brown, and this form also occurs in Spain.
