About Habrocestum hongkongiense Prószyński, 1992
Habrocestum hongkongiense is a small species of jumping spider. It has the abdominal pattern typical of the genus Habrocestum, with two large white spots that are fused together in this species. Males of this species have a dark brown cephalothorax, with an unclear median longitudinal line made of white setae. On the male eye field, white hairs are arranged in transverse lines, and these hairs form a white spot behind the junction of the anterior median eyes. The male's first leg has distinct coloration: the femur is dark brown, the patella is yellow on the dorsal side, and the tibia is brown, with a lighter yellow spot covered in white setae on its dorsal surface. The palpal organ of this species is similar to that of other Habrocestum species, but differs in having two tibial apophyses and a long, slightly wavy embolus. This species has been recorded in China, specifically from Hong Kong, where its type specimen was collected.
