About Habenaria tridactylites Lindl.
Habenaria tridactylites Lindl. is a terrestrial orchid species. Its upper perianth segments form a structure shaped like a helmet. The lowest petal forms the lip of the flower, which is deeply split into three very long lobes. This species also produces a long floral spur. Habenaria tridactylites is endemic to the Canary Islands. On the island of Tenerife, it grows on forested hillsides in the lower elevation zone. On Gran Canaria, it occurs at elevations between 200 and 800 meters. It can also be found on the remaining Canary Islands: La Gomera, La Palma, El Hierro, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
