Habenaria quinqueseta (Michx.) Eaton, commonly known as the longhorn bog orchid, is an orchid species closely related to and often mistaken for Habenaria macroceratitis. It is native to the southern United States, Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and northern South America. This species has a widespread distribution ranging from southern North America through Central America and the West Indies, with the southernmost extent of its range in northern South America. In North America, it occurs in the southern United States (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas) and Mexico. In Central America, it is found in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. In the West Indies, it is recorded from the Bahamas, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Jamaica. In South America, it grows in Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela, and never extends as far south as Brazil. Within the southern United States, Habenaria quinqueseta grows in flatwoods, hammocks, meadows, swamps, and roadside areas at elevations no higher than 100 m (330 ft).
