Gymnopilus flavidellus Murrill has caps that range from 2 to 5 centimetres (0.8 to 2.0 inches) in diameter. This fungus grows on coniferous and deciduous wood, including stumps, buried wood, fallen limbs, and sawdust. It occurs across most of temperate North America, and produces fruiting bodies from autumn through winter.
