About Gymnadenia austriaca (Teppner & E.Klein) P.Delforge

Gymnadenia austriaca is a species of plant in the orchid family Orchidaceae. It is endemic to the Alps and the Pyrenees, growing on calcareous alpine grassland at elevations of 1,500 to 2,500 metres, which is 4,900 to 8,200 feet. It was first described by Teppner and E. Klein as a subspecies of Nigratella nigra (N. nigra ssp austriaca), before being reclassified as G. austriaca, an apomictic member of the G. nigra group within the genus Gymnadenia.
