About Grindelia adenodonta (Steyerm.) G.L.Nesom

Grindelia adenodonta, commonly known as the Lonestar gumweed, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Asteraceae. This species is native to the southern Great Plains of the United States, and it is found exclusively in the state of Texas. It grows in prairies, thickets, and along streambanks. It is an annual herb that can reach up to 130 cm (equal to 52 inches, or 4 1/3 feet) in height. Its leaves are narrowly egg-shaped or triangular, and grow up to 9 cm (3.6 inches) long. The plant typically produces many flower heads arranged in open, branching clusters. Each flower head holds 20-27 ray flowers that surround a large number of tiny disc flowers.
