About Gratiana pallidula (Boheman, 1854)

Gratiana pallidula, commonly known as the eggplant tortoise beetle, is a species of tortoise beetle belonging to the leaf beetle family Chrysomelidae. It is native to Central America and North America. In most living adult individuals, the pronotum is light green, and the elytra are light golden brown with expanded, transparent margins. Dead specimens are mostly medium brown overall, with lighter brownish-yellow elytral margins. The adult body is oblong, and the elytral margins are almost parallel-sided for more than half of their length. The elytral disc has many small surface pits arranged in several longitudinal rows. Gratiana pallidula larvae may be at least partially green, and carry a fecal shield over their back.
