Grangea maderaspatana (L.) Poir. is a branched herb that grows up to 70 cm tall, and has cylindrical, grayish roots. Its flower heads are solitary, 6–8 mm (0.24–0.31 in) in diameter, and bear yellow florets. The achenes produced by this plant are compressed and narrowly winged. This species grows commonly in moist habitats ranging from warm temperate to tropical areas. It is widely distributed throughout India and Nepal.
