About Goodenia pulchella Benth.

Goodenia pulchella Benth. is an erect to ascending herb that typically reaches a height of 35 cm (14 in), and all its foliage is covered in stiff hairs. Its leaves are lance-shaped, mostly arranged at the base of the plant, and measure 40โ€“80 mm (1.6โ€“3.1 in) long and 1โ€“11 mm (0.039โ€“0.433 in) wide; the leaf edges are sometimes wavy or toothed. The flowers of this species are arranged in racemes that grow up to 150 mm (5.9 in) long, with leaf-like bracts that are 1.5โ€“2 mm (0.059โ€“0.079 in) long. Each individual flower sits on a pedicel that is 10โ€“40 mm (0.39โ€“1.57 in) long. The sepals are narrow oblong in shape and 2โ€“3 mm (0.079โ€“0.118 in) long, while the petals are yellow and measure 8โ€“14 mm (0.31โ€“0.55 in) long. The lower lobes of the corolla are 2.5โ€“4 mm (0.098โ€“0.157 in) long, with wings that can reach up to 1.5 mm (0.059 in) wide. Flowering occurs between September and January, and the mature fruit is a more or less spherical capsule 2โ€“3 mm (0.079โ€“0.118 in) in diameter. This goodenia grows in seasonally wet areas between Kalbarri and the Great Australian Bight, in the south and south-west of Western Australia.
