About Goodenia lanata R.Br.
Goodenia lanata R.Br., also known as trailing goodenia, is a low-lying to prostrate perennial herb. Its stems grow 30โ50 cm (12โ20 in) long, and are covered in soft, silvery-grey hairs. Basal leaves are egg-shaped with the narrower end at the base, toothed or lyrate, measuring 10โ80 mm (0.39โ3.15 in) long and 5โ20 mm (0.20โ0.79 in) wide. Stem leaves are similar in shape but smaller in size. Its flowers are arranged in racemes up to 200 mm (7.9 in) long, growing on peduncles 20โ60 mm (0.79โ2.36 in) long. The racemes have leaf-like bracts and linear bracteoles 3โ5 mm (0.12โ0.20 in) long, and each individual flower grows on a pedicel 1โ4 mm (0.039โ0.157 in) long. The sepals are narrow oblong, 5โ6 mm (0.20โ0.24 in) long. The corolla is yellow, 10โ15 mm (0.39โ0.59 in) long, with lower lobes 5โ6 mm (0.20โ0.24 in) long and wings approximately 2 mm (0.079 in) wide. Flowering occurs mainly from September to March, and the fruit is an oval to cylindrical capsule 6โ7 mm (0.24โ0.28 in) long. This species grows in heath, grassy woodland, and open forest. It occurs mainly in southern Victoria and is widespread across Tasmania.
