About Goodenia arguta (R.Br.) K.A.Sheph.

Goodenia arguta (R.Br.) K.A.Sheph. is a hairless perennial plant that forms a basal rosette of leaves, and produces upright flowering stems that grow up to 40 centimetres (16 inches) tall. The leaves of this species are lance-shaped (with the narrower end at the base) to narrowly elliptic. They measure 40โ€“120 millimetres (1.6โ€“4.7 inches) long and 5โ€“12 millimetres (0.20โ€“0.47 inches) wide, and have toothed or lobed edges. Its flowers are arranged in clusters, with lance-shaped to egg-shaped, toothed or lobed bracteoles at the base of each cluster; these bracteoles are 10โ€“30 millimetres (0.39โ€“1.18 inches) long. This species has five sepals that are 8โ€“12 millimetres (0.31โ€“0.47 inches) long. The petals are deep yellow, 12โ€“22 millimetres (0.47โ€“0.87 inches) long, with wings 1.0โ€“1.5 millimetres (0.039โ€“0.059 inches) wide. Flowering occurs mostly from September to January, and the fruit is an oval capsule 6โ€“9 millimetres (0.24โ€“0.35 inches) long. This species, also commonly called spur velleia, typically grows in mallee, grassland, or rocky sites. It occurs in all Australian states except Tasmania, and is not found in the Northern Territory.
