Gonocephalus bellii (Duméril & Bibron, 1837)

Body Coloration

Gonocephalus bellii, or G. bellii, has a body color that ranges from greenish-grey to brown, marked with deep brown stripes.

Males of this species have a colorful dewlap that can vary in color from teal to pinkish-purple.

Geographic Distribution

G. bellii is native to Thailand, Malacca, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, West Malaysia, and the Indonesian island of Borneo.

Habitat and Altitude Range

Its preferred natural habitat is forest, found at altitudes between 1,000 and 1,800 meters (3,300 to 5,900 feet).

Reproduction

This species is oviparous, and females produce clutches of 3 to 5 eggs per clutch.
