Gonioctena fornicata (Brüggemann, 1873) adults are beetles that measure 6–7 mm in length. Adult individuals have a black head, with red elytra and red pronotum. The pronotum bears two black dots, and each elytron has five black dots. The larvae of this species are yellow-gray, with black spots along the back and sides, and have three pairs of thoracic legs. This species is distributed across Poland, Italy, South Russia, Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Yugoslavia, Southern Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, and the Caucasus.
