This species occurs across the Palearctic region as far east as Siberia, and Siberia is its main distribution area. In Central and Southern Europe, its range is restricted to high mountain regions: the Pyrenees, Sierra de Guadarrama, central and southern Apennines, Alps, Carpathians, Balkan Mountains, and the Caucasus.
