About Glossostigma elatinoides (Benth.) Benth. ex Hook.fil.
Glossostigma elatinoides, also commonly known as small mud-mat, is a perennial mat-forming herb that grows in either terrestrial or aquatic environments. Its leaves are green, occasionally sparsely hairy, and measure 6โ20 mm (0.24โ0.79 in) long by 1โ3 mm (0.039โ0.118 in) wide. Leaves range in shape from elliptic to egg-shaped, and their base tapers either abruptly or gradually into a 2โ10 mm (0.079โ0.394 in) long petiole that is sometimes whitish. A distinct midrib is visible on the lower surface of the leaf. Its flowers have a green calyx 1.5โ2.3 mm (0.059โ0.091 in) long, an upright pedicel 1โ12 mm (0.039โ0.472 in) long, and a two-lipped blue-mauve corolla 2โ3.5 mm (0.079โ0.138 in) long. Flowering takes place from December to May, and the fruit produced is an oval-shaped capsule. This species grows in wet locations including river flats, areas near swamps, and areas near dams. It occurs in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory.
