About Glochidion puberum (L.) Hutch.
Glochidion puberum (L.) Hutch. is a species of shrub or small tree belonging to the family Phyllanthaceae. The species is native to China, where it is widely distributed across both subtropical and temperate areas. It occurs in the Chinese provinces of Anhui, Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Zhejiang, as well as the autonomous regions of Tibet and Guangxi. It has also been recorded from Taiwan and Japan. Glochidion puberum is morphologically very similar to Glochidion chodoense, a species endemic to southern South Korea. In Mandarin, this species is called 算盘子 (suanpanzi), a name that is also used for the entire genus Glochidion. In China, Glochidion puberum is used for medicinal purposes. This species has become naturalized at multiple sites in Alabama, United States.
