About Globia algae Esper

Globia algae Esper has a wingspan ranging from 32 to 45 mm. Its forewings are yellowish reddish-brown: the reddish-brown tint is more prominent in males, while the yellowish tint is more prominent in females. The veins are more or less tinged with grey, there is a dark smudge at the lower angle of the cell, and an outer row of dark vein dots. The hindwing is grey, with a dark outer line that has paler edges. One rare form, ab. liturata ab. nov. [Warren], has both complete lines that are dentate across the entire wing, and a thickly black median vein. A very dark form, ab. fumata ab. nov. [Warren], occurs in the Norfolk Fens; in this form, the wings, especially in males, are dark brown or blackish brown.
