About Gliophorus laetus (Pers.) Herink

Gliophorus laetus (Pers.) Herink is an agaric fungus species belonging to the Hygrophoraceae family. It was first formally described as a new species to science by Christian Hendrik Persoon in 1800, and later transferred to the genus Gliophorus in 1958. Its orangish cap ranges from convex to flat in shape, has a slimy texture, and measures 1 to 3 centimetres (1⁄2 to 1+1⁄4 inches) across. The stem is 2.5 to 8.5 cm (1 to 3+1⁄4 in) long. Its flesh is whitish, and it produces a white spore print. It has a similar appearance to G. perplexus. This fungus grows on moist ground in North America. It is classified as edible, but it is considered to be of little culinary interest.
