About Glaucium corniculatum (L.) Rudolph

Glaucium corniculatum, commonly known as blackspot hornpoppy or red horned-poppy, is a flowering plant species belonging to the genus Glaucium in the poppy family Papaveraceae. It is an annual plant that grows in southern Europe and reaches a maximum height of 1 foot, which equals 30 cm. Both its stem and leaves are hairy. Its capsule fruit is covered in stiff hair. The flowers are red, with a black spot at the base of the tepal bract that is surrounded by a yellow margin. Flowers bloom from June through August.
