About Gilia millefoliata Fisch. & C.A.Mey.
This wildflower species, Gilia millefoliata Fisch. & C.A.Mey., produces a branching stem that reaches a maximum height of around 30 centimeters. The stem is dark green with some red coloring, and is covered in abundant glandular hairs. Exudate from these hairs gives the above-ground plant material a skunk-like scent. The fleshy leaves are mostly arranged in a basal rosette at ground level, with a small number of leaves also scattered sparsely along the stem. Inflorescences at the tips of the stem branches consist of small clusters of glandular flowers. Each individual flower grows up to 1 centimeter wide, and is primarily lavender to purple, with a white or yellowish throat marked with purple spots. The fruit is a small capsule that reaches up to 1 centimeter wide.
