About Geranium palmatum Cav.

Geranium palmatum Cav. is a species of flowering plant in the family Geraniaceae, native to the island of Madeira. It is incorrectly known as Canary Island geranium. This evergreen perennial grows in a rosette form, reaching 1.5 m (4.9 ft) tall and 1 m (3.3 ft) broad. It has divided palmate leaves, and pink flowers 4 cm (1.6 in) in diameter that grow on long red stems. It is hardy down to −10 °C (14 °F). When cultivated, it needs a sheltered position in full sun with some afternoon shade. It does not tolerate heavy, wet soils, and prefers a light, well-drained growing medium.
