About Gerania boscii (Fabricius, 1801)

Gerania boscii (Fabricius, 1801) can reach a body length of approximately 70 to 80 millimeters (2.8 to 3.1 inches). Its total width, including the antennae, measures about 60 millimeters (2.4 inches). Body coloration in this species is quite variable. Most individuals have a background body color ranging from bright yellow to almost white, marked with large brown or black spots and markings, and bluish-black legs. This species has unusually long, almost spider-like legs, which make it a distinctive species that is popular among insect collectors. Males of this species are larger than females, and males have elongated appendages. This species occurs in mixed forests in India, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia, specifically on the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, and Timor.
