Geraea viscida (A.Gray) S.F.Blake is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. Its common names are sticky geraea and sticky desertsunflower. This plant is native to southern California, where it grows mainly on the chaparral hills of eastern San Diego County, and also occurs in nearby Baja California. Geraea viscida is a bristly, glandular perennial geophyte that produces scrubby stems. The stems range in height from 30 centimeters (12 inches) to nearly 1 meter (39 inches). Its slightly hairy leaves are several centimeters long, generally oval in shape, and sometimes have small teeth and basal lobes. The plant's inflorescence bears one or more flower heads, which are knobby clusters made up of yellow disc florets, with no ray florets present. The phyllaries that surround each flower head are particularly sticky. The fruit produced by this plant is an achene that reaches up to 1 centimeter (0.4 inches) in length, not counting its pappus hairs.
