About Gentiana pneumonanthe L.

Gentiana pneumonanthe, commonly known as the marsh gentian, is a species belonging to the genus Gentiana. In 1980, it became the first wildflower to be named Flower of the Year in Germany. This species grows in marshes and moorlands, and it serves as the host plant for the Alcon blue butterfly, Phengaris alcon.
