About Genista florida L.

Genista florida L. is a very branched shrub that can grow up to 3 meters tall. Its stems have 8 to 10 slightly hairy T-shaped ribs. The leaves are alternate and entire, each bearing a single lanceolate leaflet, and have stipules. The plant produces clusters of up to 30 yellow florets, and flowers between May and July. Its fruit is pod-shaped and holds up to 6 seeds.

This species grows in degraded forests, clearings, and heaths across most of the Iberian Peninsula. It prefers dry, acidic, nitrogen-poor soils, and tolerates cold weather well.
