About Gegenes nostrodamus (Fabricius, 1793)
Gegenes nostrodamus has a dark brown body and wings, with a smoky black base. On the hindwing, the inner margin is paler than the surrounding ground color; female individuals have a few white dots on the forewing. The underside is pale brown, with some faint obscure white spots near the tip of the forewing. In females, these obscure white spots also appear on the hind-margin of the hindwing. The wingspan of this species expands a little over one inch. It inhabits dry places in South Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia, and is active there in August. It has also been recorded from Campbellpore, Kala Pani and Hurripur in North-West India, according to Butler; the original description is attributed to Kirby.
