About Gastridium phleoides (Nees & Meyen) C.E.Hubb.
Gastridium is a genus of grasses in the grass family. Members of this genus are native to Africa and Eurasia, and they are commonly known as nit grass. Several species are currently recognized within the genus Gastridium. Gastridium lainzii (Romero García) Romero Zarco is found in south-western Spain. Gastridium phleoides (Nees & Meyen) C.E.Hubb. occurs in Africa, southern Europe, the Middle East, and the Arabian Peninsula. Gastridium scabrum C.Presl is distributed across the Mediterranean region. Gastridium ventricosum (Gouan) Schinz & Thell grows in the Mediterranean and nearby areas, ranging from Great Britain to Cape Verde to the Caucasus. Some species previously classified under Gastridium have been reclassified: Gastridium littorale, Gastridium nitens, and Gastridium triaristatum are now all classified as Triplachne nitens.
