About Gamochaeta ustulata (Nutt.) Holub
Gamochaeta ustulata, commonly called featherweed or Pacific cudweed, is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family that is native to North America. Its native range covers the western United States and southwestern Canada, specifically the regions of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. It grows primarily on seaside hills and within the Coast Ranges, and there are also additional populations located further inland. Gamochaeta ustulata is either an annual or perennial herb that reaches a maximum height of 40 cm (16 in). Its leaves can grow up to 5 cm (2.0 in) long; the upper surface of the leaf is green, while the underside appears white due to a dense covering of woolly hairs. The plant produces many small flower heads arranged in elongated clusters. Each individual flower head holds 4–6 yellow disc flowers, and does not produce any ray flowers.
