Gamochaeta purpurea (L.) Cabrera is a small annual herb. It grows lanceolate, alternate, woolly leaves, and produces peg-shaped flowerheads arranged in terminal clusters. Its seeds are dispersed by wind. Mature plants reach an approximate height of 0.4 meters, or 1.25 feet. This species can grow in nearly any type of moderately moist soil, and it prefers habitats including meadows, rocky terrain, and farmland.
