About Gallirallus torquatus (Linnaeus, 1766)
The barred rail, with the scientific name Gallirallus torquatus (Linnaeus, 1766), is a rail species that occurs across the Philippines, Sulawesi in Indonesia, and Salawati in western New Guinea. This species is common, but it is shy and difficult to observe. It was formerly sometimes classified in the genus Hypotaenidia. Its diet includes eggs (such as eggs of the Philippine megapode), among other food items.
