The lesser moorhen, a bird species in the family Rallidae, has the scientific name Gallinula angulata Sundevall, 1850. It is sometimes classified in the genus Gallinula, and is the only member of the genus Paragallinula, under which it is also sometimes referenced. This species is widely distributed across Sub-Saharan Africa, excluding Southern Africa and Madagascar. It has been recorded as a rare vagrant in the Western Palearctic, and has also been sighted in Brazil, Egypt, Morocco, and Oman.
