Scientific name: Galium latifolium Michx. Galium latifolium, commonly known as purple bedstraw, is a plant species from North America that belongs to the Rubiaceae family. It is native to eastern North America, and its distribution is centered primarily in the Appalachian Mountains, ranging from Pennsylvania to Alabama. A small number of lowland populations of this species can also be found in eastern Maryland and eastern South Carolina.
