About Galium catalinense A.Gray

Galium catalinense A.Gray is a species of flowering plant in the coffee family, with the common name Santa Catalina Island bedstraw. It is endemic to two of the Channel Islands of California, and grows along coastal bluffs there. It is an erect shrub that reaches a maximum height of around one meter, with a rigid stem lined with whorls, each holding four leaves. The hairy leaves are generally lance-shaped, and measure between one and 2.5 centimeters long. Dense clusters of whitish flowers grow in inflorescences that emerge from the leaf axils.
