Galgera is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. This genus contains only one species, Galgera decurrens (Vahl) Anderb. & Bengtson. This species is native to the Hoggar Mountains of Algeria, northeastern Africa ranging from Chad to Somalia, the southern Arabian Peninsula, and southern Africa ranging from Angola and Zambia to South Africa. It grows in seasonally dry areas. Galgera decurrens is an erect herbaceous perennial that grows between 25 and 200 cm tall, and it has grey-green leaves. The entire plant is highly aromatic, and it is covered in dense wooly hairs. This plant is locally harvested from the wild to be used as medicine, and as a repellent for mosquitoes and other general insects.
