About Galerina graminea (Velen.) Kühner

Galerina graminea (Velen.) Kühner, commonly called the turf bell, is a mushroom species that belongs to the genus Galerina. Unlike most other species in the Galerina genus, this mushroom is able to grow and survive in grass that contains no moss. For many years, this species was known under the name Galerina laevis, a name that was first proposed by Christiaan Hendrik Persoon. The species epithet graminea means "of grass", and the genus name Galerina translates to helmet-like. There is currently no confirmed information on whether this mushroom is poisonous, but it is generally suspected to be toxic.
