About Galactia tenuiflora Eggers
Galactia tenuiflora, whose scientific name is Galactia tenuiflora Eggers, is a twining or trailing vine in the plant family Fabaceae. This is a pantropical species, and within Australia it grows in the northern part of the country, ranging from the Kimberley region to North Queensland. It can grow in a wide range of different habitats, and it has a preference for Eucalypt woodland. Its leaves are compound, and are made up of three leaflets. It produces purple flowers during the months of January and February. Its inflorescences grow from leaf axils, and each node bears between one and three flowers. The seed pods it produces measure 30 to 50mm in length; they start pale green when young, and turn brown as they mature. Each pod holds seven to nine seeds, which range in colour from pale to dark brown.
