Its native range includes northeastern China (specifically Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces), multiple regions of Russia (Kamchatka, Kuril Islands, Sakhalin, Primorye, Altay Krai, and Krasnoyarsk), Japan, Korea, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, and northern India. It is a bulb-forming perennial herb that grows up to 20 cm (8 inches) tall, and it produces yellow flowers.
