About Frigga pratensis (G.W.Peckham & E.G.Peckham, 1885)
Frigga pratensis is a medium-sized jumping spider that displays prominent sexual dimorphism in both size and coloration. Males reach a total body length of roughly 10 millimeters, with an abdomen width of 3 millimeters. Females are slightly smaller, with a total body length of around 8 millimeters and an abdomen width of 2.2 millimeters.
In both sexes, the cephalothorax is high and convex. It is widest at the location of the dorsal eyes, and is more contracted at the front than at the back. Its eye arrangement follows the typical pattern for jumping spiders (family Salticidae), with four rows of eyes, though the specific proportional measurements of the eyes differ between males and females.
Frigga pratensis ranges from Mexico in the north southward to Colombia, making it one of the most widely distributed species within the genus Frigga. It has been documented in multiple Central American countries, including Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.
